SoftWave Therapy
Non-invasive regenerative technology used to support the body's natural healing response, reduce musculoskeletal pain, and improve function.
*Please wait 21 days before applying SoftWave to any area injected with cortizone.
Not sure whether SoftWave is appropriate for you? Autumn can help you determine whether it makes sense for what you're experiencing.
What is SoftWave Therapy?
SoftWave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that delivers electrohydraulic acoustic waves into targeted tissue. These waves are intended to encourage biological responses associated with blood flow, inflammation modulation, tissue repair and pain reduction. The SoftWave OrthoGold TRT device produces an unfocused acoustic wave across a broader treatment areato trigger the body's natural cellular healing processes.
How It Works…
Acoustic Wave Generation: The device produces high-energy electrical discharges in a water chamber, generating supersonic acoustic shockwaves.
Broad-Focused Delivery: Using a patented parabolic reflector, the Orthogold spreads these high-energy waves wide and deep into damaged tissue (up to 10–12 cm depth) without concentrating heat at a single point, keeping the treatment comfortable.
Cellular Response (Mechanotransduction): As the soundwaves pass through injured or inflamed soft tissue, the physical micro-stress tricks the body into believing an injury just occurred. This converts mechanical energy into biological signaling.
Biological Repair: The treatment stimulates new blood vessel growth (angiogenesis), flushes out chronic inflammation, breaks down scar tissue, and recruits resident stem cells to accelerate long-term tissue repair.
It is commonly used in sports medicine, orthopedics, and musculoskeletal care to treat chronic joint pain, tendinopathies, and soft-tissue injuries without surgery or injections.
Why seek SoftWave?
Persistent muscle or joint pain
Limited mobility or stiffness
Tendon and soft-tissue irritation
Chronic conditions that have not responded adequately to conservative care
Recovery from repetitive physical work
Sports or overuse injuries
SoftWave is not appropriate for every person or condition. Health history, symptoms and goals will be reviewed before treatment is recommended.
What happens during a session?
Step 1: Brief check-in
You’ll discuss the treatment area, recent symptoms and anything that has changed since your last visit.
Step 2: Treatment mapping
Your essential feedback is used to identify the areas that appear most responsive and determine the appropriate treatment approach.
Step 3: SoftWave treatment
Gel is applied and the applicator is moved across the targeted area. You may feel tapping, pressure or brief areas of sensitivity. Treatment is approximately 15min and guided with your feedback.
Step 4: Education and next steps
You will be educated on what to expect afterward and guidance will be given related to movement, activity and your treatment plan.

Softwave Therapy is a non-invasive regenerative treatment that uses electrohydraulic shockwaves to stimulate healing, reduce inflammation, and promote tissue repair at a cellular level.
-
The shockwaves penetrate deep into the tissue, triggering a biological response that increases blood flow, stimulates stem cell activation, and accelerates natural healing.
-
Most patients experience mild to moderate discomfort during treatment, but it is typically well-tolerated. The sensation often feels like a tapping or tingling in the treated area.
-
Sessions are approx. 10-20 minutes depending on the care plan chosen. Initial visits are 20 minutes.
-
The number of sessions varies based on the condition and individual response to treatment. Many patients experience relief after 1-3 sessions, while chronic conditions may require 4-8 treatments for optimal results.
-
SoftWave Therapy is generally safe with minimal side effects. Some patients may experience mild soreness or swelling in the treated area, which usually resolves within a few hours to a couple of days.
-
Stem cell migration takes about 48 hours to complete. Many patients report immediate pain relief after their first session, while others notice gradual improvements over a few days or weeks. Significant results do not typically take place until after 4-8 treatments.
-
Take it easy and relax if possible
Light stretching and walking are ok
Epsom salt bath and applying topical ointments/creams can help with soreness
Hydrate and replenish electrolytes
-
Do not take anti-inflammatories (e.g. ibuprofen)
Do not perform strenuous activities for at least 15-24 hours (i.e. weightlifting; running; sports; etc.) or if you continue to experience increased inflammation in the area addressed
Do not apply ice to any area treated with SoftWave (heat and topical ointments are OK to use)
Do not receive additional treatments/bodywork on the same day after you have SoftWave (massage, chiropractic adjustment, dry needling, acupuncture, etc.). These treatments are OK to have on the same day if they are done before SoftWave.
-
Currently it is not.
-
Pregnant individuals
Individuals with blood clotting disorders
Those with active infections in the treatment area
SoftWave cannot be performed over any area injected with cortisone for 21 days, but other areas can be safely treated during this time
Those under 14 years old
-
SoftWave therapy for neuropathy is variable and maybe a slow process due to the regeneration speed of nerves. Faster results have been known to occur in patients combining SoftWave with red light therapy.
-
Medical history, medications, pregnancy, active infection, clotting concerns and other factors may affect whether treatment is appropriate. The best way to determine if SoftWave Therapy is right for you is to schedule a discovery call.
